Still on parenting…..
Every parent is a library to his or
her children. As a parent/potential parent who is described as a library, are
you equipped enough with positive materials for your children to be well
equipped? When I talk of materials I don't mean books. I mean character which
gives rise to integrity. Parents, your integrity or lack of it will have
consequences not only in your own life but also in the lives of your children.
Make your life an open book. Make your life an open book that people can read
and get equipped.
How do you go about your business?
Are you among those Christians that believe that before they will succeed in
life they must cheat? Are you among those Christians that usually say,
"take God out of this, this is business"? If God is really taken away
from your business or any part of your life affairs, can you really succeed?
How do people around you perceive you? What would your business associate,
partners or whoever that you've had dealings with, say about you? Will your
story sound so good or make people listen with scorn? In your office and place
of work, how are you perceived? Are you among those people that teach their
children the importance of honesty but very dishonest in their dealings? Do you
really state the exact time you resume and close from office? Or do you state
the time that suits you? What is your relationship with people? Are you known
as someone troublesome? Can you be trusted with money anywhere? How exactly can
you be rated on moral-weighing-balance?
Friends, one truth about life is
that one can never give what he doesn't have. If as a parent who is expected to
be a library, you don't have good morals, no matter the measures you take, you
may not succeed to inculcate good morals in your children. What the children
see is exactly how they live. As a library, assess your material. Take stock and
reflect on your result. Do away with those materials that can be harmful to
your children and equip yourself with the needed materials so that your
children can be rightly equipped.
Shalom!
