What Is In Your Hands?

Story has it that Dr. Norman Vincent Peale visited a certain poor family to know how they were doing. On seeing Dr. Norman, Mr. Bill man of the house gave Dr. Norman the litany of their misery and hardship but his wife came up with a delightful conversation and wrapped it up with, “God will show us the way”.
On a closer look at the wife, Dr. Norman noticed that she was working on a bright piece of material that looked like a mitten and he quickly asked her what it was. Mrs. Bill said that it was a potholder dressed up. Then an idea popped up in Dr. Norman’s mind. “Why don’t you send Bill down to the department store?” Dr. Norman suggested. “I think they will buy them. At least its worth trying.”
Bill reluctantly went to the department store as suggested by Dr. Norman and to his surprise
got an order for a good number of the potholder made by his wife. Subsequently, potholder started a good business that even employed more people.
In life, many of us do not succeed not because we are not destined to succeed but due to their perception about life and challenges. Bill’s wife has a positive thinking and a potholder and God used it to change their story. While Bill believed that it was the end of the road for them, his wife believed that there was a way out which God would show them.
I don’t know what’s going on in your mind now but my question to you is, “what is in your hand?” When God comes to bless the work of your hands, what will He see? I know of someone who has been looking for something to do for over 3years and each time you ask him what he’s doing, he will quickly tell you that he’s planning on what to do. I also know of someone who has spent one year looking for a place to start up a business while the little capital he has keeps depreciating with each day that goes by.
Are you among those that see nothing worth doing around you? Are you among those wishing for a fortune to start up a business? Are you one out of the multitude praying for other people’s talents so as to do wonders? If you are not using what you have, the truth that will sock you is that you will never even do anything with what you don’t have, if ever given to you. If you can’t make use of what you already have at your disposal, what makes you think that you can use what you do not have?
What is in your hand? What is your own potholder? Start with whatever you have so that God will bless the work of your hands. Stop waiting for uncles that will give you money because they may not do more than verbal promises. Quit hoping on godfathers to connect you because you may wait till eternity. Start with what God made available to you and He will definitely bless the work of your hands.
The only way to the top is from down. Take the stair cases one at a time and you will surely get there.
